(Vinyl Love is a series of posts that quite simply lists, describes, and displays the pieces in my growing vinyl collection. You can bet that each record was given a spin during the drafting of each corresponding post.)
Artist: First Aid Kit
Album Title: The lion’s roar
Year released: 2012
Details: Black vinyl, 180 gram, Gatefold
The skinny: You would not know just by listening to their music that First Aid Kit, an indie folk duo comprised of sisters Klara and Johanna Söderberg, hail from Sweden but it’s the truth. This, their sophomore release. is cleaner and crisper and more assured than their debut and filled with plenty of beautiful moments created by the sisters’ harmonies.
Standout track: “Emmylou”

Looks promising!
I recognize the series is Vinyl love, but do you ever invest in CDs anymore?
I’ve started collecting a bunch of old singles through Amazon (usually for something like $0.70 + $3.49 shipping). I thought of you yesterday when I scooped Blur’s Country house (from seller ‘awesomebookscanada’) for a list price of $0.01!

It’s been a few years since I’ve purchased a CD. And it’s been even longer since I’ve played a CD. These days, I’m ripping everything at top quality and selling them. Making room for more vinyl. Haha.

Understandable – I think they might have some of the britpop singles on vinyl too, I’m guessing for slightly more than a penny though!

I’d say so, yes. I’m not quite into collecting the singles so much yet though. Full albums are more my bag, though I do have a couple EPs.

I’ve only heard bits and pieces, but kinda like what I’ve heard without being blown away.

Fair enough. I’ve just really enjoyed their harmonies but they’re always just one album away from losing my interest.

It was just last night when my lovely wife asked if I’d heard of this act. I hadn’t. And now here I am reading your post and eyeing that lovely vinyl and it seems like I oughta dig deeper!

[…] my fears were unwarranted and instead we had more of the same lovely harmonies found on “The lion’s roar“, only with more musician support and a crisper production. Album #4, “Ruins”, is […]
