Details: 7 of 7 in Blur 21, anniversary box set, black vinyl, 180 gram, 2 x LP, Gatefold sleeve
The skinny: Blur’s 7th album is their first recorded as a trio. Though Coxon appears on the album’s final track, he effectively left the band during its recording, given the usual artistic differences. It continues down the art rock path forged by “13” with obvious influences from Damon Albarn’s time spent working with Gorillaz.
Standout track: “Out of time”

I like this one a lot. Actually forgot how much I liked it! Maybe my 2nd favourite? Or favourite… need to dig this one out!

Funny. It’s the one I’m least familiar with, having perhaps only listened to it once or twice through before getting this set but I really like it now too.

I haven’t listened to it in a while, but I was crazy fond of it when it came out and probably only dropped it when Demon Days and The Good, The Bad & The Queen established themselves as the best things Albarn ever done.

I do, yeah. I rate it very highly… and genuinely think it’s one of the best things he’s put out (Demon Days is the best). Let me know if you delve back into it.

It is a damned decent album. Much better than I ever considered, particularly without Coxon

Yes. I’m not sure why it took me so long to give it a good chance but it’s been a fave on the turntable of late.
